About Us

VN CARES is a non-profit organization who serves the community through the three different internships that we offer to UC Davis students: our Clinical internship, our Research & Education internship, and our Hybrid internship. Our mission statement is to inform the community about the prevalent types of cancer that affect the target population, educate the community about the benefits of performing regular cancer screenings and the available cancer treatments, and lastly to personally be patient advocates in our clinical internship to our patient population. For our clinical side of our organization, we are one of the student-run clinic at UC Davis devoted to helping the medically under served Vietnamese Sacramento and Stockton community. We provide free healthcare services such as breast, cervical, prostate, liver, and colorectal cancer screenings. And we also provide primary care services to our target population and any underserved in the local area. For the clinical internship, we train our interns to be the best patient advocate for each and every patient through lab handling skills, translation skills, and many others. You will gain valuable experience in a clinical setting with face to face patient interaction and learn to apply yourself in a professional environment filled with doctors and medical students. For our Research and Education side of our organization, their mission stems from educating the community on prevalent health topics in a way that will impact the community. We believe that Prevention is greater than Treatment and we strive to improve on the importance of education and how understanding a disease or illness is the best way to prevent yourself from being affected by it. Our Research and Education interns play a vital part in outreaching to communities through presentations and public speaking so that they can strive to educate the community. You will gain valuable experience in being able to present information effectively, public speaking, interaction with professionals, and opportunity to practice your skills to our target population and the community. For our Hybrid internship we combine the best of both sides of our organization to allow applicants to delve into the world of both public health and clinical experience.
