About Us
The IRS VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) trains student volunteers to provide free tax preparation services for low to moderate-income families. Volunteers receive free training in tax laws and preparation and receive IRS certification after passing a test. No experience is necessary to become a VITA volunteer. VITA volunteers gain valuable skills in tax preparation, financial literacy and professional development while performing valuable community service. Students have an opportunity to gain real accounting experience with tax assistance and tax preparation. Tasks: Students will be preparing tax returns for community members. Introducing people to financial literacy topics. Developing useful skills, such as translating tax laws, marketing, and project leadership to ensure smooth site operations.
