About Us

Best Buddies is an international organization that focuses on normalizing friendships between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. We pair UCD students to people in the community with intellectual and developmental disabilities in one-to-one friendships for the academic year. We do not meet recurringly in a classroom. Instead, we host 1-3 events each month in downtown Davis, UC Davis campus, or True Connection, giving our members the option to meet the community. Additionally, buddy pairs may independently hang out together. Our club events include bowling nights, movie nights, dances, downtown fundraisers, holiday parties and more! Our goal is to make new social connections, and how you spend time fostering them is up to you. In agreeing to be matched, you are committing to a year long friendship with the requirement to meet up at least once each month and contact each other at least 4 times a month.
