Hult Prize @ UC Davis is the first ever chapter of the prestigious Hult Prize competition at UC Davis, dedicated to encourage students to become global changemakers. Our mission is to enable undergraduate and graduate Aggies from all disciplines to form interdisciplinary teams and develop social impact startups addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As an official Hult Prize campus chapter, we provide entrepreneurship education, mentorship, and a direct pathway for students to compete on the international stage of the Hult Prize, which is the world’s largest student movement for social good entrepreneurship. This unique affiliation distinguishes Hult Prize @ UC Davis from any other student organization on campus, as we are the only group that directly connects students to the Hult Prize Foundation’s global network and $1M startup competition. By focusing on for profit social enterprises aligned with global sustainability goals, we fill a niche no existing UC Davis club addresses, complementing other entrepreneurship and service groups with our specific emphasis on international competition and measurable social impact. Our purpose is firmly grounded in UC Davis’s educational values of innovation, sustainability, and public engagement, providing students with real learning experience that turns ideas into action for the global good. In practice, Hult Prize @ UC Davis will host a series of workshops, info sessions, and networking events to equip students with the tools and knowledge to launch their ventures. Our signature event is a campus wide Hult Prize OnCampus pitch competition where student teams pitch innovative startup ideas to solve a designated global challenge. The winning team earns the opportunity to represent UC Davis at a Hult Prize Nationals, which then leads to the global finals, competing for resources and recognition to scale their idea. Throughout this process, we emphasize equity and access in entrepreneurship, and we actively recruit and support first gen college students, low income students, and international students who are often underrepresented in startup spaces. By encouraging inclusive interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership development, and real world problem solving, Hult Prize @ UC Davis enriches our university’s co-curricular learning environment. As the first ever business organization established under UC Davis’s new undergraduate business program and led by its inaugural cohort of students, Hult Prize @ UC Davis represents a defining step in shaping the university’s entrepreneurial identity. By introducing a global social entrepreneurship competition to campus for the first time, the organization provides undergraduates with a professional platform to apply classroom learning to real world innovation and impact. It bridges the gap between academic theory and venture creation (helping business students gain practical experience in startup development, team leadership, and sustainable business strategy) while inspiring collaboration with peers from engineering, environmental science, and the arts. This inaugural cohort not only expands opportunities for UC Davis students but also establishes a legacy of global engagement and innovation excellence for the university’s business community.
