About Us

California Health Professional Student Alliance (CaHPSA) is the student section of California Physicians Alliance (CaPA). CaHPSA aims to equip health professional student leaders and advocates with the skills necessary to effect change in the healthcare system in order to achieve high-quality, accessible, guaranteed, and affordable health care for all. We offer unique opportunities as a CaHPSA chapter here at UC Davis, being located so close to our state's capital, and proudly touting joint involvement between undergraduates, medical students and other allied health-professional trainees.

Committees & Membership

We are currently seeking to rebuild our chapter's involvement, and specifically hope to find 1-3 highly motivated undergraduates to take on leadership roles, in addition to recruiting general members.

Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee is dedicated to promoting CaHPSA's advocacy campaigns throughout the semester. Members will have the opportunity to aide in arranging legislative visits, work with advocacy organizations on and off campus, and learn more about both the legislative process and health advocacy as a whole. Members will have the opportunity to write and publish policy proposals as well as build upon their understanding of government structure. At the end of the school year (around April), the Advocacy Committee will head to the capitol in Sacramento, CA for Legislative Lobby Day!

Policy Research Committee

Policy Research Committee is focused on researching the key policies and issues that form the foundation of CaHPSA's educational and advocacy efforts. Members will learn how to objectively perform policy research and join CaHPSA's Health Alerts program, which will focus on current events impacting the healthcare space. The committee also provides opportunities to learn from professionals in policy and public health through speaker panels and events that foster educational discourse on pressing healthcare topics.

Access Committee: Project White Coat

PWC trains students to become certified Covered California enrollment counselors and provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on training with our current health care system as well as opportunities to interact with people from various backgrounds who face different challenges accessing health care.
