About Us
The Women Machinists' Club (WMC) is dedicated to making hands-on learning more accessible and inclusive. Machining, the process of creating parts or products using machines, gives students a way to apply their academic knowledge to practical problems. It builds confidence, critical thinking, and hands-on skills. However, machine shops are often male-dominated spaces, and students of underrepresented genders report experiencing discrimination in these environments. We aim to create a welcoming space where students can learn machining skills, gain shop confidence, and support one another in an empowering community. Our events include workshops, socials, and shop tours— all focused on lowering the barrier to entry and building community. All students are welcome to join, especially those interested in supporting inclusion in makerspaces.
