Student Life Impact Awards
In case you missed it, our organization recently won the Civic Engagement Awardfor student organizations! We want to give a big thanks to CSI and also this community for making what we do possible.
The main reason I decided to become an Aggie was a dream that’s been with me since my first year at Solano Community College. Living in Fairfield, just a 30-minute drive west of Davis, it felt like the perfect choice to transfer to a great school close to home. Commuting to UCD for classes instead of living in dorms or apartments has helped me find a sweet spot between work, school, and my hobbies. I get to hang out with friends from my military days, volunteer at my local church on Sundays, visit my siblings, and enjoy life with my partner.
I remember being the odd one out in my orientation group because I was the only one commuting. Everyone else was buzzing about the amazing dorm rooms on campus. To connect with other commuters, I joined the student commuter organization and learned to make the most of my time on campus. I even joined the officer team last spring!
I encourage you all to find that balance in your lives and get involved in your community. You’re all strong, and you can totally do this!
Thank you all for being part of this growing community. In just two years, this club has come a long way—and I’m excited to see how it continues to grow in the years ahead.
This will also be my last newsletter, as I’m graduating this year. Leading this club has been one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience, and I’m grateful to have shared it with all of you. Wishing you the best during your time at Davis and beyond🤘🏾
Signing off,
