About Us
MANRRS at UC Davis offers students opportunities to enhance leadership, organizational and public speaking skills, and to receive critiques of scholarly work in a supportive environment. MANRRS at UC Davis provides a network of counterparts from diverse backgrounds with related interests and goals. More experienced members serve as mentors for newer members. MANRRS at UC Davis provides its members an inner circle of relationships to improve professional lines of communication. MANRRS at UC Davis also works closely with employers in the broader agricultural sector. It provides them a platform to identify prospective, well-qualified employees of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Through our local network and participation with the greater national MANRRS organization, our chapter is connected with companies such as Land O’Lakes, Purina Mills, and WinField® United, Bayer, John Deere, Farm Credit, Veterinary Services, Animal Care, BASF, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Cargill, Elanco, Merck & Co., Dow, Monsanto, Syngenta, Du Pont, the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Who We Are
MANRRS at UC Davis is affiliated with the MANRRS national organization, which welcomes people of all racial and ethnic groups to explore careers in agricultural and related sciences. The national organization was founded to empower and advance members of minorities in agriculture, natural resources and related science with the goal of the inclusion, achievement and advancement of all people in the agricultural sciences. MANRRS connects students to career and networking opportunities that can help them to advance within highly competitive fields of work. For student members, MANRRS also provides role models and distinctive networking opportunities. MANRRS members are encouraged to participate in other professional societies for their disciplinary and career interests. You can learn more here at the national MANRRS website.
Membership Criteria
To be a member of MANRRS at UC Davis, all you have to do is attend a meeting and participate in the organization when it works for you! There are more criteria for members interested in participating in MANRRS at UC Davis for 1 unit. Email us for information!
National Conference
A national training conference is held annually where more than 1,000 members meet each other and network with agriculture and natural resources related companies like: Land O’Lakes, Purina Mills, and WinField United, Bayer, John Deere, Farm Credit, Veterinary Services, Animal Care, BASF, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Cargill, Elanco, Merck, Dow, Monsanto, Syngenta, Du Pont, U.S. Forest Service, and USDA. Conference attendees can experience workshops, research presentations, student competitions and keynote addresses by prominent leaders. A job fair provides opportunities for students and young professionals to meet with employers and discuss internships, graduate research positions and career opportunities.
Student Competitions
MANRRS competitions take place at our fall regional conferences and at the annual national conference. These competitions showcase members’ written and oral communication skills in completing essays, speeches, and the design of innovative poster projects.
Scholarships
MANRRS offer many scholarships involved with participation that offer unique experiences associated from our many partnerships such full expense paid for trip to headquarters and conferences.
Regional Meetings
Regional meetings focus on professional and leadership development of students. The respective student vice president in each of the six regions coordinates these activities. Meetings are attended by top industry and government professionals seeking to network with students. MANRRS has developed a wide range of partnerships with private companies and government agencies to offer scholarships, internships, cooperative training experiences, and other professional development opportunities.
Programs within the National Organization
L.E.A.D - MENTORING PROGRAM
The program is designed to develop emerging leaders for future and current leadership and management roles within Agribusiness and increase the retention of those committed to working in these roles. The program also addresses career preparation by optimizing cross-sector collaborations that focus on identifying and nurturing high potential leaders of diverse backgrounds and developing them into high achievers and responsible leaders
MANRRS/NASDA AG POLICY SUMMIT
MANRRS seeks to expose minority students to the field of policy and governmental affairs as it pertains to the food and agriculture industries. The MANRRS NASDA Foundation Policy Summit will introduce students to major policies that lead and impact the food and agriculture industry, trade associations and how they help shape policy, advocacy for agricultural-related issues, and how federal agencies such as USDA execute and implement policy.
ANIMAL HEALTH AND CARE ACADEMY
The Animal Health and Animal Care Academy is a professional development, career development, and educational immersive experience designed to expose students to traditional and non-traditional (non-veterinary) careers and professional mentors.
