About Us
Sun Safety for Kids, a nonprofit founded in 2001 by board-certified dermatologists from the Los Angeles Metropolitan Dermatological Society, aims to combat the preventable epidemic of skin cancer by promoting sun protection among youth. In 2016, medical students from the Keck School of Medicine of USC: Vadim Lincoln, Igor Krivitsky, and Shera Feinstein—developed a skin cancer prevention presentation that led to a partnership with Sun Safety for Kids. They launched the UV&Me program, creating its name, logo, and first website, and served as the founding Medical Student National Directors. Dr. Vadim Lincoln later returned as a Professional Co-Director alongside Dr. Jeff Ashley. Today, UV&Me operates as a division of Sun Safety for Kids. Its day-to-day activities are overseen by dermatologist co-directors and managed by General Manager Marty Roark, with input from medical student directors. UV&Me chapters at medical schools function as official student organizations, where volunteer medical students deliver approved sun safety presentations to children in classrooms and community settings to help prevent skin cancer. Our goal is to establish a UV&ME chapter here at UC Davis.
