Website Mission
Mission Our mission for the Symposium of Reason Philosophy club is to create a welcoming environment, emphasizing niche and specialized topics here at UC Davis. We hope to achieve this by inviting authoritative and specialized speakers to introduce their research and discuss interesting topics with our club. Our long-term goal is to create a flourishing feedback loop of interaction between undergraduates, faculty, and graduate students. This will result in an elevated connection between the Philosophy department and those interested in philosophy. We are particularly interested in the fields of metaphysics, history of philosophy, and logic. The club members will be able to interact with the material directly with the speaker, possibly offering insight during a Q&A period during the meeting. The club members will be able to interact with the material directly with the speaker, possibly offering insight during a Q&A period during the meeting. During the weekly (not specially allocated speaker days) meetings we provide a space for the exchange of ideas such as feedback for papers, group studying, or tutoring in philosophical material. Our connection to UC Davis is strong, as we choose speakers from our fantastic faculty, and graduate students. Additionally, we also align with the UC Davis code of academic conduct and stick close to our club constitution. We want to create a truly open and thoughtful space for discussion and hope to provide both our members and speakers with productive and positive experiences.
