1) TOMORROW: Skin Health Education Event

The KLOHC Equitable Care in Dermatology Committee, in collaboration with Shifa and BPSHI, is hosting a Community Skin Health Education Event at a Gurdwara in west Sacramento TOMORROW: October 15th from 10AM-2PM.

We are looking for 2-4 volunteers to help educate patients in Punjabi and English on skin conditions, primarily focusing on skin cancer, and are also distributing sunscreen samples; future events are planned for those unavailable this weekend

2) Upcoming: Research Night

We are excited for the upcoming research next this Thursday, we recognize this time was not ideal for many 2nd years due to your upcoming exam. We will be providing the slides and resources on our website after the event. Additionally, we do not anticipate this to be the last time we have an event like this!

If you haven't, please remember to RSVP below. Though many research specific items will be Dermatology specific, the general topics of how research can fit into your schedule and life as a medical student will be applicable to all, so invite friends who may be interested!

3) Leadership Interest Survey

We have received some great responses regarding the leadership interest, and we are excited about moving forward working with you all!

• MS4s, if you have current interest in being involved please let us know!

• MS3s, we understand your time is very limited, we do not expect your leadership positions to really take into effect until after you have completed Step 2, this survey will help us gauage current interest for future leadership involvement.

4) California Advocacy Comittee Apps

The California Advocacy Day Committee is recruiting members for the 2024-25 term to focus on dermatology-related health policy and advocacy. The committee hosts an annual California-wide virtual conference to educate students and residents on state-based dermatology legislation and to engage with lawmakers.

October 22nd at 11:59PM PT.

4) DIGA: Outreach Opportunitiy with the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF)

The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is running the Take ACTION for Psoriatic Disease campaign, with options to volunteer at 11 events or form a fundraising team. Activities culminate in Take ACTION-Fest, a celebratory and educational event. Fundraising can be done through social media, team formation, and event hosting. Funds directly support NPF's initiatives for psoriatic diseases. Registration details and day-of volunteering options are available online, with team registration also open for the Dermatology Interest Group Association (DIGA) page.
